Some thoughts on ‘Love On The Spectrum’, written by Quinn Godwin.
“I feel the individuals on Love On The Spectrum can be referred to for ‘neurotypical’ people to take the kindness, sincerity and compassion from, and implement them more effectively into their own lives. How the cast communicate is so matter of fact, literal and with respect that it proves that ‘normal’ isn’t a real thing. What I see on this show is that neurodivergent individuals can express their feelings somewhat better than ‘neurotypical’ people. The cast appreciate their partners view points and boundaries with such conviction and respect, something a lot of us could learn from. It shows that neurodivergent individuals that come from a supporting family and affluence can have their needs met and enhanced, rather than someone on the spectrum who has sustained significant trauma, abuse or poverty. Nurture over nature. It reminded me why I love different brains and why I’m attached to different ways of thinking and ideologies. Lastly, I think we can all take great influence at the casts lust for life and living in the moment. It is evident when watching the cast on their dates - that the only thing that matters in the world at that time, no past, no future, just a bond to the present and getting the most out of it, is the date itself.
Extremely humbling to say the least and I just wanted to share my initial thoughts after finishing the show.”
